Would you like to communicate with your peers to help the school and community while taking on a leadership role at Windsor? Student Council is looking for people like you for the 2015-16 school year! Student Council believes in the following ideas:
Student Council Representatives can be 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade students. They will meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month during lunch recess in Mrs. Flauter’s room, 155. A schedule will be given out at the first meeting. If this sounds interesting to you, please apply to be a member of Windsor’s Student Council. Applications will be passed out in all third through fifth grade classrooms over the next couple of days, or can be accessed by clicking on the link below. Completed applications are due back to Mrs. Stella by Friday, September 18.
Little Free Libraries are free book exchanges where anyone may take a book or return a book to share with others. They are typically little wooden boxes that you may have seen in someone’s front yard in Arlington Heights. We are very fortunate that Mr. Komarek designed and built a Little Free Library for Windsor School. The Art Club painted the Little Free Library and Student Council had a book collection drive to fill the library up with some children's literature. Students then prepared the books to be placed in the Little Free Library. Each book has a sticker on it that shows others that the book was chosen from Windsor School's Little Free Library. Windsor’s Little Free Library will be open for business beginning after school today. It is located by the main entrance of the school. Students and their families can stop by at any time to pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. It is filled with all types of children’s literature. You can swap a book, pick a book, or leave a book when you visit it. Thank you to Mr. Komarek for building the Little Free Library for our school, Art Club for painting it, and Student Council for checking in on it over the summer months. We hope that you will visit the little free library during the summer and that you keep reading! Our first school selected spirit day on March 20 was a huge success! Students dressed up as everything from astronauts, to sports figures - some even dressed as their favorite teachers! Speaking of the teachers, many of the Windsor staff got in on the action too! Thank you to everyone who participated in the event!
Wondering what to wear for Career Day tomorrow? Here are some ideas!
We can't wait to see our Wildcats dressed for success! You voted, and chose CAREER DAY for our Windsor Spirit Day on Friday, March 20! Thanks for voting!
Students on Windsor's Student Council spent their lunch hour today making dog toys for a local animal shelter. Using donations from the school community, students created tug toys out of old t-shirts, noisy toys using water bottles in old socks, and treat toys using cardboard rolls. Students had a great time finding new and fun uses for everyday things. Check out our pictures below! |
